#100DayProject: Day 1
Day 1: INTENTION.
[Reviving this blog to serve as my landing place for my first #100DayProject...]
I'm doing the #100DayProject this year!
But, like, why
Shortly after hearing that the 100DP was about to start again, I had a stroke of inspiration and thought of a project that perfectly aligns with my creative and personal development intentions at this very moment. (When the energy flows like this, I have to follow the spark and say YES!)
Ok so what is it
For the better part of the last 2 years, my creative work has been tied up in the conceptual realm.
I've been deep in the study of heady topics like capitalism, the global neoliberal economy, mythology (as related to the zodiac), psychological patterns according to personality types, and other truly juicy topics.
I'm stoked about the long-term project(s) I'm doing all this research for... but this dense research part of development feels almost completely mental.
Get to the point
My intention for the 100 Day Project is to practice bringing concepts, feelings, words, ideas to the sensory / earthly / experiential realm, in the form of daily photos.
- The goal is to practice this particular craft — of translating something from the conceptual plane into the sensory one — for 100 consecutive days. And to develop a system to review and organize my photos in the process.
- Ideally, some of the images from these explorations will end up in look books for my related film projects, but I'm not attaching myself to this outcome.
- I can either take a photo or use a photo taken by me in 2022. (I may change this guideline down the road if the Muse wishes it so.)
- I will embrace imperfection! The point is commitment and exploration, not excellence nor any of its paralyzing relatives.
- I'll share the daily concept+image on my IG Stories, and post them here perhaps with a little more description.
In February (days 1–15), I'm going to pick a word or concept every morning based on whatever I studied or talked about the previous day, or on the card pulled, or on any other serendipitous element that pops up.
In March, I may explore a few related words/elements over the course of a few days. We'll see!
